Case Study
The Brief
Elite sport demands production that moves at the speed of the game. The SLB Play-Off Finals are built on pace, pressure and momentum. The brief was to deliver audio-visual and event production services that could match it.
This wasn’t just about equipment. It was about timing, atmosphere, and precision on one of the biggest stages in British basketball.

Our Approach
MaxMarcus provided audio-visual and event production services for the Super League Basketball (SLB) Play-Off Finals at The O2 Arena in London. This included both the men’s and women’s finals.
The production needed to land cleanly across every moment of the programme. From walk-in music to high-impact cues, everything had to feel controlled. Live announcements and post-game transitions also needed to run smoothly. Sound and visuals supported the action without distracting from it.
Delivery Across Multiple Arenas
Alongside the Play-Off Finals at The O2, MaxMarcus also supported SLB across key fixtures throughout the season, including:
- SLB Trophy Finals at Utilita Arena Birmingham
- SLB Cup Final at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham
Each venue brought a different layout and technical environment. Scheduling also changed from site to site. Our approach stayed consistent. Calm preparation. Efficient execution. Seamless delivery behind the scenes.

Key Differences: Finals vs Regular Season Fixtures
Finals delivery comes with a different pace and scale. London Lions home games at the Copper Box Arena run at around 7,000 capacity. SLB finals venues scale up significantly. Motorpoint Arena Nottingham holds 10,000, and Utilita Arena Birmingham holds 20,000.
Match days can also include up to three games in one session. That means triple the content and show flow. It can involve as many as six teams in a single day. In practice, it’s comparable to delivering three London Lions fixtures back-to-back.

The Result
Across London, Birmingham and Nottingham, SLB fans experienced finals-level basketball with the energy it deserves.
The biggest moments landed with impact. The transitions stayed sharp. Momentum never dropped. The atmosphere held from doors open through to the final whistle.
For MaxMarcus, it’s a clear example of what sports production should feel like. Confident, precise, and built for pressure.
